Numisma company

Our Story

Built around the belief that clarity changes everything

Numisma was founded in Penang to address a gap that many Malaysians recognise — the space between earning money and truly understanding it.

Who We Are

A place to learn about money, honestly

Numisma began when a small group of financial practitioners in Penang noticed the same pattern in conversation after conversation: people had salaries, savings accounts, and EPF statements — but they had rarely been taught how to read, interpret, or act on any of it.

The premise of Numisma is straightforward. Financial literacy is a learnable skill, not an inherited trait. With the right structure, the right examples, and enough time to ask questions without embarrassment, most people can develop a working understanding of their own finances.

We concentrate on three areas where the need is most specific: the early career stage, investment literacy, and estate planning. These are moments when the decisions made have long tails — good or otherwise — and where clear thinking is worth developing.

Our programs are written and taught by practitioners with applied experience, not by instructors who teach only theory. Everything is grounded in the Malaysian context: EPF, PTPTN, Bursa Malaysia, local trust and inheritance law. We do not import generic content and relabel it.

Our Mission

To make financial knowledge genuinely accessible to Malaysians — delivered with patience, cultural awareness, and a respect for where each person is starting from.

Our Vision

A Malaysia where financial conversations happen at the dinner table — where people feel capable of reading a balance sheet, writing a will, and discussing their long-term plans with confidence.

Our Setting

We are based in George Town, Penang — a city with a long tradition of commerce and education. Sessions are held in a calm, well-appointed space designed to encourage reflection and open discussion.

How We Work

Standards we hold ourselves to

Regulatory alignment

All program content reflects current Malaysian law and regulations, including EPF rules, SC guidelines, and civil and Islamic estate planning frameworks.

Participant confidentiality

What participants share in sessions stays within those sessions. We do not use case studies that could identify individuals without explicit consent.

Annual content review

Programs are reviewed and updated at least once per year to incorporate regulatory changes, updated market data, and feedback from recent cohorts.

Practitioner-taught only

Facilitation is handled by people with applied professional experience in the subject — not outsourced to generalist trainers or replicated remotely.

Data protection

Participant data is held in accordance with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010. We do not sell or share contact information with third parties.

Post-program feedback

Each cohort completes a structured feedback form after their final session. Results shape how the next intake is delivered, improving both content and format over time.

About Our Work

Numisma operates from George Town, Penang — one of Malaysia's oldest commercial centres and a city with deep traditions in trade, record-keeping, and education. The location is deliberate. Penang has long been a place where careful people build things with patience, and that spirit informs how we approach financial education.

Our programs draw on the Malaysian financial system as it actually operates: EPF contribution structures, PTPTN repayment schedules, Bursa Malaysia listed company reports, and the dual-track estate planning environment that accommodates both civil law and Islamic inheritance principles. These specifics matter. Generic financial content rarely maps cleanly onto a Malaysian life.

We work with participants across a range of occupations — public sector employees, small business owners, healthcare workers, engineers, and individuals approaching retirement. What they share is a desire to understand what they have, what it means, and what sensible next steps might look like for their particular situation.

Numisma does not position itself as an investment firm or advisory practice. Our role is educational. We help people develop the vocabulary and the analytical tools to have more productive conversations — with themselves, with their families, and, where appropriate, with the licensed advisers they may choose to work with afterwards.
